FOI Request - Can Active Social Workers Do External Paid Work

Request 101002176433

Can you please tell me if social workers employed by yourselves are allowed to undertake private work for other organisations or people? If so, are there any restrictions or stipulations to prevent a possible conflict of interest? For example, they must declare this work to yourselves?

Response 24-05-2019

All employees are bound to declare any work they undertake alongside their Moray Council employment so that we can determine and investigate where necessary if there is a conflict of interests.  If we thought there was a conflict of interests then we would need to discuss this with employee. There may also be issues in relation to working time that need to be considered. In summary, these situations are looked at on a case by case basis. A copy of our policy on outside employment is attached here.
