FOI Request - Cycle Paths
Could you tell me how many miles of paved/tarred cycle paths Elgin and surrounding area has, including those connecting other communities such as Lossiemouth and Mosstodloch.
In accordance with section 17 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 we can advise that we do not hold a record of the length of cycles paths in this area or where they are paved.
The Council does not hold any information relating to: cyclepaths being built as part of developments which have not yet been added to the list of public roads or which are not to be added to the list of public roads; cyclepaths owned by third parties; some historic cyclepaths which do not fall under any of the above categories, but nethertheless do exist.
Some information is available on the following websites:
- The NCN map on the Sustrans Website identifies the location of cyclepaths.
- Moray Ways identifies other promoted cycle routes within Moray.
- The Core Path network in principle is available for cyclists. Maps are available here, but this does not show whether the path is actually cycleable.
- Cycle map for Elgin is also available, although this is not comprehensive with all the smaller links.
