Question

Answer

How will DBS affect my job?

The scope of some jobs will change and some will go.  There are no firm numbers available as yet, but the DBS programme is estimated to reduce the total workforce by approximately 140 staff.  It is hoped that the reduction can be managed through natural staff turnover (currently approx 500 staff per year) without the need for compulsory redundancies, however no guarantees can be given.  Jobs are safer under DBS that without it.

The impact of changes on staff will be managed in accordance with the Council’s change management policy and procedures.

If you have any concerns about your job and the DBS process, please contact your line manager or the DBS team who will give you any further information they can.

Your job could be more focussed on the service you deliver rather than be diluted with too many admin tasks.

How will DBS affect my current post?

Some posts will change to reflect new working arrangements and areas of responsibility. Many others will not.

Will there be any compulsory redundancies through the implementation of DBS?

Whilst there will be a need to reduce the number of posts within the Council, whether there is a need to make any compulsory redundancies as a result will depend on a number of factors around managing this process. It is anticipated that any job losses will be managed as part of the council’s natural wastage. We do turnover 500 jobs a year, after all.

Where will staff reductions take place - front line staff? Support staff? Managers?

Any reductions in staff numbers will be managed and made across the spectrum of grades where appropriate.

What does this mean for my job?

That depends on what you do. Please send a specific question for your service area and we’ll answer it if we can.
