Tomintoul War Memorial

The Richmond Hall in Tomintoul was built in the late nineteenth century, and named after the then Duke of Richmond, who at that time owned about nine-tenths of the village.

The building is of two storeys, and is of rubble masonry with a slated roof. Its seven-bay frontage features an imposing centrepiece, faced with smooth, ashlar masonry and topped by a triangular pediment.

After World War I, the Richmond Hall was rebuilt and extended as a war memorial. It was subsequently used as a village hall and public library.
