Lossiemouth War Memorial

Lossiemouth War Memorial is built into the rock-face on Pitgaveny Street opposite where the old railway station used to be.

It is constructed of polished freestone from Greenbrae Quarry with a heavy moulded base about 12 feet wide with bronze plaques listing names of those from Lossiemouth who died in WW I and II.

Two bronze reliefs below the plaques show wreathed shields.  One has the figure of a robed man, the other shows a rigged shipped moving towards a robed figure with outstretched lamp.

The monument is crowned by a seated bronze male figure, representing ‘Victory and Peace’ rests on the top. In his left hand is a sword pointing downwards. Both arms rest on the entablature.
